To the Doctor:
I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota. I've been smelling antifreeze in the cab for a while now, but now that it's colder it doesn't seem to want to defrost very good. Before, if i wasn't using the fan or controls, there was smoke coming out of the vents. Are these symptoms of a bad heater core?
The Doc Says:
Did a little research, and it certainly sounds like your problem is a bad heater core. I'd have it repaired/replaced as quickly as possible, because I have read isolated incidents about failed heater cores rupturing and scalding the occupants of a vehicle with antifreeze. Not a good situation!
Best of luck!
